What you'll do

Overview

This seashell pottery workshop in Paris is a three-hour hand-building session on Saturday afternoons in a glass-roofed studio in the 11th arrondissement. It is aimed at all levels from age 12.

What you'll make

Two practical objects of your choice, from a spoon, a small bowl, a set of salad servers, a salt dish or a large bowl, all formed with moulds taken from shells.

How the session runs

You use a decorating technique called pastillage, which is ideal for fine marine details such as shells, coral and waves. Slips add colour and pattern, and the team guides you throughout. The studio then glazes and fires your pieces and you collect them within a month. Posting is an option for those who live outside Paris.
