What you'll do

Overview

This traditional Portuguese cooking class in Lisbon takes place in a small boutique studio in Algés, just west of Belém. Two native professional chefs lead a two-and-a-half-hour session built on family recipes and produce grown on their own farm in Mafra.

What you'll make

A complete home-style meal in three courses: a starter that follows the season, a hearty main and one of Portugal's well-loved desserts.

How the session runs

Guests are welcomed with Portuguese cheeses, cured chorizo and a glass of chilled Vinho Verde. Then everyone gets to work, learning traditional techniques step by step while the chefs share the stories behind each dish. The class finishes around a chef's table where the group eats everything it has cooked, with Vinho Verde poured through the meal. Late arrivals cannot join more than 20 minutes after the start.

Who it's for

Food lovers, couples, solo travellers and families with children aged 8 and over. Groups run from two to ten guests. Vegetarian and other adaptations may be possible with 72 hours' notice, but the class is not suitable for vegans or for severe dairy or gluten allergies. Solo guests should email before booking.

Private & team bookings

The studio can be booked exclusively for families, friends or corporate teams, seating up to 15 guests or 20 for a standing reception, with a custom proposal on request.
