Modern calligraphy
Learn the strokes of modern lettering with a dip pen or brush pen and write beautifully.

What you do
Good lettering is a set of simple strokes repeated well. A calligrapher shows you how to hold a dip pen or brush pen, how pressure creates thick and thin lines and how to practise the basic strokes until they flow. Then you build the alphabet, join letters into words and start to find your own style. By the end you are writing names, quotes or place cards with flourishes you would not have believed at the start.
What you take home
Your practice sheets, a finished piece and often a starter set of pens or nibs and ink.
Who it suits
Calm team sessions, wellbeing weeks and the run-up to the holidays, when hand-lettered cards and gift tags come in handy. Easy to run in a meeting room.
