Overview

This ceramic decoration workshop in Paris runs on the last Saturday of each month, from 2pm to 5pm, in a skylit studio in the 11th arrondissement. It suits every level from age 12.

What you'll make

You pick the objects to decorate: three faience plates, or one serving dish, planter or framed tile painting. Extra pieces can be added for a supplement, including a plate, a dish, a lidded box, a tile painting or a planter.

How the session runs

You spend the first hour drawing and choosing patterns, then choose on the spot which technique to use. The remaining two hours are for the decoration itself. Available techniques include coloured slip, oxide pencil in blue, brown, black or green, and transfer patterns. The studio glazes and fires your work and you collect it within two weeks, or pay for postage if you live outside Paris.
