What you do

The oldest way of making candles is also one of the most soothing. You hang a wick and dip it into a pot of warm wax, often beeswax or a plant wax, then let it cool and dip it again. Layer by layer the taper grows, and the host shows you how to keep it straight, add layers of colour or twist and plait the warm wax into something decorative. It is slow, rhythmic and surprisingly meditative.

What you take home

A pair or a bundle of taper candles, ready for the dinner table.

Who it suits

Wellbeing sessions, festive gatherings and anyone who enjoys a slow, rhythmic craft. Best for smaller groups, usually at the studio.
